Confirmation.
Confirmation is not something to be taken lightly, or to be done off-handedly when a child is "of age." Confirmation is a sacramental rite for persons who are ready to take ownership of and responsibility in their own faith journey. It is an affirmation of the promises made at baptism. Choosing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation is a mature decision that should only be made after sufficient instruction in the Christian Faith, repentance of sins, and when the person is ready to affirm their confession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. " - Catechism, The Book of Common Prayer, page 860.
